Dominique was born in Jacksonville, FL and raised in Chicago, where the word Steppin is synonymous with a way of life. While the vast majority of his friends, relatives and acquaintances were steppin at a very young age, his love was basketball. Steppin took a back seat.
After moving to Milwaukee, Dominique noticed how the steppin trend had followed him, at least it felt as though it had. With that there was no way he could pass it up a second time. Dominique started steppin in May of 2003 under the direction of Lisa Stewart of Whodini & Company. Being a fast and dedicated learner, he has quickly taken the art of steppin to a different level by creating and implementing his own unique and genuine style. Began teaching this dance in 2003, shortly after he began dancing. Dominqiue is a former member of MSBU Productions in Milwaukee, where he was the Lead Instructor. Dominique is a founding member of Silky Smooth Steppers, Inc.,(Chicago) and Dominique and Company(Milwaukee).
Although Dominique loves to compete, steppin is a form of relaxation for him. He enjoys teaching and sharing his love of the dance.
Dominique's Steppin Accomplishments:
LeLe has been Steppin' for 4 years, and instructing for 3. She learned her basics from Alicia Smith of MSBU in Milwaukee, and from there was taken under the wing of Dominique Robinson. LeLe loves seeing the looks on her student's faces when they're learning.
LeLe's philosophy': No matter what you're going through, no matter how bad of a day you've had...just throw on your favorite Steppers Cut and get ya dance on! LeLe also gives credit to L.C. Henderson for the tips on her turns and spins.(You all know she is a spinner).
LeLe competed for the first time in July 2006 with Dwain Saulsberry of Chicago, and won 1st place in the Beginners category of the Loose Shoes competition. Later that month they competed in the Annual 3G’s competition and then 2 months later, competed in the World’s Largest Steppers Competition. LeLe says that ever since she learned to dance with a partner she wanted to compete. It's the thrill of it all! Will she do it again? Maybe, maybe not....You'll have to wait and see :)
